Terms and Conditions

 

1. The Promoter

1.1 The promoter is Hisense UK Limited of Unit 2 Meadow Court, Millshaw, Leeds, England, LS11 8LZ.
1.2 Day to day management of the competition will be carried out by Hatch Communications Limited on behalf of the Promoter.
2. The competition
1.1 The title of the competition is “Armchair Reporter”.
1.2 In order to participate in the competition you must write a response to two questions set by the Promoter and submit your response by email in accordance with Section 3 below.

2. Eligibility

2.1 The competition is only open to residents in the UK who are aged 18 years or over, except:
(a) employees of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies;
(b) employees of Hatch Communications or other agents or suppliers of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration; or
(c) members of the immediate families or households of (a) and (b) above.
2.2 In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the prize package and willing and able to fulfil your obligations under Section 6 below. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition and willing and able to fulfil your obligations under Section 6.
2.3 The Promoter will not accept competition entries that are completed by third parties. There is a limit of one entry to the competition per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
2.4 The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.

3. How to enter

3.1 The competition will run from 00.00 on 2nd May 2018 (the “Opening Date”) to 23.59 on Sunday 3rd June (the “Closing Date”) inclusive.
3.2 All competition entries must be received by the Promoter in accordance with paragraph 3.3 below by no later than 12.00 (i.e. midday) on the Closing Date. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
3.3 To enter the competition you must send you competition entry by email to ArmchairReporter@hatchpr.co.uk
3.4 No purchase is necessary to enter the competition.
3.5 The Promoter will not accept:
(a) responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or
(b) proof of transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
3.6 By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
3.7 The entry mechanic consists of two parts, in under a total of 250 words, competition entries will help showcase an entrant’s writing skills and passion and must explain why:
(a) They would make an effective, talented and motivated Hisense UK Armchair Reporter
(b) Describe their most ‘incredible moment’ in FIFA World Cup ™ history. This part of the task can describe a moment they’ve witnessed personally, on television or footage of previous tournaments.

4. Judging

4.1 The competition entries will be judged by a panel selected by the Promoter, based on the quality and content of the entry submitted. Entries may then be shortlisted and the shortlisted entrants asked to take part in an interview process. The entrant will need to make themselves available for this interview process if they wish to proceed with their application. The judges will then make their decision.
4.2 The Promoter will send the full names of the judges to anyone who writes within one month after the Closing Date of the competition requesting details of the judges and who encloses a self-addressed envelope to the address set out in paragraph 1.

5. Winner announcement

5.1 Only one winner will be selected. The winner of the competition will be announced on 5th June 2018.
5.2 The Promoter will contact the winner as soon as practicable after the Announcement Date, using the telephone number or email address provided with the competition entry.
5.3 The name and county of the winner will be published on the Promoter’s website following the Announcement Date.
5.4 The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within seven (7) days of the Announcement Date, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize package to the next eligible entrant selected from the correct entries that were received before the Closing Date.

6. Armchair Reporter Obligations

6.1 The winner will be required to provide at least the following pieces following the Announcement Date (“Campaign Pieces”) and each Campaign Piece must be submitted within such timescales as the Promoter may specify. All Campaign Pieces must have been completed and submitted to the Promoter by no later than 12.00 (i.e. midday) on Wednesday 18th July 2018:
(a) 1 x 500 word tournament preview piece;
(b) 1 x 500 word England tournament preview piece;
(c) 7 x 350 (or above) word write-ups of each England group-stage game and each England game for the remainder of their involvement in the tournament;
(d) If England are eliminated, a write-up of one game from each of the subsequent knock-out stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup™; and
(e) 1 x 500 word tournament wrap-up piece.
6.2 Any conduct by the winner which the Promoter (in its absolute discretion) considers to be inappropriate, via Social Media or other communications channels, at any point throughout the duration of the competition or subsequent campaign, will result in the competition and campaign being cancelled and the winning participant will not receive any of the prize package.
6.3 All Campaign Pieces submitted by the winner pursuant to paragraph 6.1, are subject to final approval by the Promoter, but such approval will not relieve the winner of its obligations in law or to otherwise ensure the materials they provide are lawful and do not infringe on the rights of others and the winner shall ensure that the Campaign Pieces are its own original work and shall not contain anything which is unlawful or infringes the rights of any other person.
6.4 If you are the winner you agree to participate in any reasonable publicity required by the Promoter. In particular, the winner will be required to host a content session in their home on w/c Monday 4th June (date subject to change) to gather photography and video content to promote the competition as well as the Promoter’s products and services. The winner agrees that such photo and video content and any Campaign Pieces may be used to promote the competition and for marketing and promotional purposes on any website, social media, digital, press or other media or channel and in accordance with section 9 below generally.

7. The prize package

7.1 The prize package consists of:
(a) £1000, to be paid upon completion of the Campaign Pieces detailed in section 6 above by not later than Wednesday 18th July 2018 and within such other timescales reasonably required by the Promoter;
(b) A Hisense U7A television, to be collected and returned to the Promoter if the Campaign Pieces detailed in section 6 above are not completed by not later than Wednesday 18th July 2018 and within such other timescales as may be reasonably required by the Promoter;
(c) Up to one hour of tutorial and Q&A with a current sports journalist – to be confirmed and dependant on the winner and journalist’s availability.
7.2 Each element of the prize package is subject to availability. No cash alternative is available for the non-cash elements of the prize package The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any element of the prize with a prize of equal or greater value.
7.3 The prize package is not negotiable or transferable. In particular, the Hisense U7A television must not be sold or gifted to any third party until all Campaign Pieces required under paragraph 6.1 have been submitted to the Promoter within required timescales.
7.4 The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.
7.5 The prize package does not include any other items or costs or expenses, other than those expressly listed in paragraph 7.1 above.

8. Limitation of liability

Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

9. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights

9.1 You will retain ownership of the copyright in your competition entry and (if you are the winner) any Campaign Pieces submitted to the Promoter under paragraph 6.1. However, you agree that the Promoter may, but is not required to, publish and make your competition entry and Campaign Pieces available on its website and in any other media whatsoever, whether now known or invented in the future, in connection with any publicity of the competition and/ or promotion of the Promoters’ products and services and/ or for any other purpose whatsoever. You agree to grant the Promoter a worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in your competition entry and any Campaign Pieces, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the competition entry and any Campaign Pieces for such purposes.
9.2 You agree that you will not publish or use your competition entry or Campaign Pieces on any other website or in any other media or context, or permit any body else to do so, without first obtaining the Promoter’s prior written consent.

10. Data protection and publicity

10.1 If you are the winner of the competition, you agree that the Promoter may use your name, image and town or county of residence to announce the winner of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.
10.2 By entering the competition, you agree that any personal information provided by you with the competition entry may be held and used only by the Promoter or its agents and suppliers to administer the competition.

11. General

11.1 The competition is operated by the Promoter and not by FIFA or any other organisations, clubs or nations involved in the FIFA World Cup™.
11.2 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
11.3 The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition, or these terms and conditions where it becomes necessary to do so.
11.4 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
