Terms and Conditions
By participating in the Promotion, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions. A full copy of these Terms and Conditions is published at www.hisense.co.uk/lasertvchamps23-tcs.
By participating in the Hisense Laser TV Championships, on Thursday 12th October 2023 at Bluewater Shopping Centre, Hisense is offering all competitors the opportunity to win the championship prize of £1,000 and a Hisense Laser 120-inch L9 TV (RRP £3,999). There is only one winner.
- The Promoter
1.1. The Promoter is: Hisense International Co. Ltd., Harbour Road, Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Qingdao, China
- The Promotion
2.2. The title of the promotion is ” Hisense Laser TV Championships “.
- Key Conditions of the Promotion
3.1. The Promotion is an offer by the Promoter, allowing competitors in the ” Hisense Laser TV Championships ” the opportunity to win the championship prize (“Prizes”) of £1,000 and a Hisense Laser 120-inch L9 TV (RRP £3,999) following participation in the championship on Thursday 12th October (the “Promotion Period”) at Bluewater Shopping Centre. There is only one winner (the “Winner”).
3.2. The Prize value will be £1,000 and a Hisense Laser 120-inch L9 TV (RRP £3,999).
3.3. Claims to the Prize can only be made by participation in the ” Hisense Laser TV Championships ” on Thursday 12th October (the “Promotion Period”) at Bluewater Shopping Centre.
3.4 To participate in the championships, competitors must maintain eye contact for as long as possible – without blinking or looking away – whilst viewing a video of a person staring back at them from a Hisense Laser TV 120 inch.
3.5 Upon blinking or looking away, the competitor will end their attempt with their time recorded by a steward. The stewards decision is final.
3.6 All competitors will view the same video, starting from its beginning.
3.7 The Winner of the Promotion is the competitor who records the longest staring time without blinking or looking away over the course of the competition.
3.8 There will only be one Winner of the Promotion. In the event of a tie, the winner will be randomly selected from the pool of participants with the same highest score.
3.9. The Winner will be contacted by the organisers within 1 week of the championships to arrange receipt of the Prize. The Winner will receive their Prize by no more than 30 working days after 12th October.
3.10 By taking part in the championships, competitors agree that Hisense may take photos and/or videos of them for use in promotional materials in print, multimedia, social or web form. Photos/videos will only be used for purposes related to Hisense and its related partners.
3.11 By taking part in this competition, the participant acknowledges that they do so at their own risk and that Hisense and the organisers take no responsibility for any injuries that occur. Participants should consult with relevant professionals should any concerns arise.
3.12 There will be no audio featured as part of the screen content. Background music will play at the venue and due to the location of the event, taking place within a shopping mall, there is likely to be background noise from the general public and at the venue. Organisers take no responsibility for noises that could be deemed as distracting within the vicinity of the venue upon competitors.
- Eligibility Requirements
4.1. The Promotion is open to residents of the UK of all ages, however participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Organisers reserve the right to request proof of age.
4.2. The Promotion is not open to employees of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies or agents or members of their immediate families or households or to anyone involved in the administration of the Promotion.
4.3. Participants may only compete in the championship once, no repeat entries will be accepted.
4.4. Stewards have the right to deny participation in the championship of those persons who may be deemed unsuitable to participate, this includes those that are intoxicated or who have a medical diagnosis of lagophthalmos (where your eyelids do not close all the way i.e. you do not blink).
4.5. If a competitor stares for longer than 15 minutes, the organisers reserve the right to ask them to stop staring.
4.6. Any participant who tries to distract fellow competitors whilst they are competing in the staring competition will be disqualified.
- How to Claim
5.1. Claims to the Prize can only be made by participation in the ” Hisense Laser TV Championships ” on Thursday 12th October 2023 (the “Promotion Period”) at Bluewater Shopping Centre
5.2. To take part in the Promotion, participants must complete a Registration Form, providing their full name, phone number and email address. By registering, competitors agree to be contacted in the event that they are named the Winner of the championship. Competitors will not be contacted for marketing or any other purposes.
5.3. Hisense reserves the right to require participants to provide proof of identity.
5.4 The Winner will be contacted by the organisers within one week of the championships to arrange receipt of the Prize.
5.5.The Winner will receive their £1,000 Prize by Hisense within 30 working days. The Winner will receive their Hisense Laser 120-inch L9 TV (RRP £3,999) Prize by Hisense UK within 30 working days.
5.6. The £1,000 prize will be issued to the Winner via an online transfer of funds within 30 working days. Winner will be contacted to confirm method of payment.
5.7 The Winner will be contacted to arrange receipt of the Hisense Laser 120-inch L9 TV (RRP £3,999) within 30 working days.

- General Conditions
6.1 Where the Promoter has reason to believe that a Prize has been claimed fraudulently or in breach of the requirements detailed in these Terms and Conditions it reserves the right to withdraw the Prize.
6.2 The Promoter will not accept responsibility where the Promotion cannot go ahead or entries cannot be administered due to any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind, except in cases of negligence, fault or deliberate act or omission of the Promoter or its agents.
6.3 The Promoter will not accept responsibility for any entries which are rejected or cannot be verified or for any other issues (such as the dispatch of Prizes to the incorrect address), due to the provision by a participant of incorrect or incomplete information or contact details.
- Data Protection
7.1. The Promoter is the controller for all personal information collected via the Registration Forms on the day of the ” Hisense Laser TV Championships ” on Thursday 12th October 2023 (the “Promotion Period”) at Bluewater Shopping Centre. The Promoter will only process your personal information for the purposes of running the Promotion, verifying, handling and fulfilling the Prize, dealing with disputes, investigating fraud and invalid claims. Competitors will not be contacted for marketing or any other purposes.
7.2. Please refer to our Privacy Policy overleaf for further information as to how the Promoter will process your personal information in connection with this Promotion.
- General
8.1. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to exclude you from participating in the Promotion (or any similar future promotions).
8.2. The Promoter reserves the right to suspend or cancel the Promotion and/ or to amend these Promotion Terms and Conditions at any time where (in its reasonable discretion) it considers it to be desirable or necessary to do so or where this is necessary due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
8.3. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

- What personal data do we gather about you?
3.1. “Personal data” is any information about an individual from which that individual can be identified. It does not include data from which an individual cannot be identified, for example anonymised data. - How do we collect your personal data?
4.1. We may collect personal data about you from the information you provide to us when you complete your registration entry to the Laser TV Championships and, in some cases (e.g. where we need to do so to validate a claim or where we have reason to believe that information you have provided is fraudulent or incorrect) we may request information from third parties to verify information or documentation you have provided.
- How do we store your personal data and keep it secure?
5.1. We use reasonable and up to date security methods to: (i) keep your data secure; (ii) prevent unauthorised or unlawful access to your personal data; (iii) prevent the accidental loss of or damage to your personal data.
5.2. All personal data you provide to us is stored on secure servers and in secure filing systems. We have in place policies, procedures and technologies to maintain the security of all personal data from the point of collection to the point of destruction including procedures to deal with a security breach. We will ensure your personal data is only accessible by those who need to see it for their specific role.
5.3. We will only transfer your personal data to a third party if that third party agrees to comply with our procedures and policies or if they have put in place equivalent policies and procedures of their own.

6.1. We will usually only process your personal data where: (i) the processing is necessary to comply with our legal obligations; (ii) the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract, e.g. as set out in our Promotion Terms and Conditions; (iii) the processing is necessary for our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of third parties; (iv) the processing is necessary for the exercise or defence of legal claims; (v) we have your consent to do so.

6.3. Where the legal reason for processing is the performance of a contract with you, if you do not provide relevant personal data we will not be able to fulfil our contractual obligation(s) to you and this may have a detrimental impact on you.
6.4. We do not sell or rent personal data which you provide to us.

- How we keep your personal data accurate?
7.1. We will endeavour to keep the personal data we store about you accurate and up to date. We will take reasonable steps to erase or rectify inaccurate data without delay.
7.2. Please tell us if your personal details change or if you become aware of any inaccuracies in the personal data we hold about you.
7.3. We will contact you if we become aware of any event which is likely to result in a change to your personal data.
- How long will we keep your personal data?
8.1. We will not keep your personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose(s) for which we process it. This means that data will be destroyed or erased from our systems when it is no longer required.
8.2. For guidance on how long certain data is likely to be kept before being destroyed, contact our Data Protection Representative.
- What rights do you have in respect of your personal data?
9.1. You have the right to: (i) request access to any personal data we hold about you; (ii) request for any inaccurate personal data which we hold about you to be rectified; (iii) request to have your personal data erased; (iv) request to have the processing of your personal data restricted (for example, if you think the personal data we hold about you is inaccurate you can ask us to stop processing it until we will either correct it or confirm it is accurate); (v) request the transfer of your personal data to another data controller; (vi) object to certain types of processing, including processing based on legitimate interests, automated processing (which includes profiling) and processing for direct-marketing purposes; and (vii) withdraw consent to the processing of your personal data (where the legal reason for the processing of your personal data was your consent).
9.2. If you wish to exercise any of the rights set out above, you must make the request in writing to our Data Protection Representative. Please note some of these rights are restricted in some circumstances.
- Who will have access to the data we hold?
10.1. Our personnel who need to access your personal data will view it in order that we can operate and administer the Promotions. All of our personnel understand the need to keep your personal data confidential and to use it only for legitimate purposes.
10.2. In addition to our own personnel, other personnel from our service providers may process your personal data on our behalf (for example, third party hosting companies; external software developers and marketing agencies).
10.3. We may disclose your personal information to third parties: (i) who are part of the group of companies to which we belong; (ii) if we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets; (iii) if we or substantially all of our assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by us will be one of the transferred assets; and (iv) if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with legal obligations or to protect the rights, property or safety of others.
10.4. If your personal data is provided to any third parties you are entitled to request details of the recipients of your personal data or the categories of recipients of your personal data.
10.5. Apart from the situations referred to above, we will not disclose your personal data to a third party without your consent unless we are satisfied that they are legally entitled to access your personal data.
- Transferring your data outside the UK and European Economic Area (EEA)
11.1. We will not transfer your personal data outside the UK and EEA unless such transfer is compliant with data protection legislation. This means that we cannot transfer any of your personal data outside the UK and EEA unless: (i) the UK Government and/ or EU Commission has decided that another country or international organisation ensures an adequate level of protection for your personal data; (ii) the transfer of your personal data is subject to appropriate safeguards, which may include binding corporate rules or standard data protection clauses adopted by the UK Government or EU Commission; or (iii) an exception applies (including if you explicitly consent to the proposed transfer).
