Mini-LED

    “Horrible TV”

    No way is this TV worth the asking price. Appalling dirty screen effect across the whole screen. Playing around with the settings does nothing to help the situation. The local dimming does not work properly, either. I will be returning it for a full refund.

    “Stunning”

    Bought this 75 inch U7 after reading customer and professional reviews and I am delighted with the TV. Colours are so vivid and upscaling is the best I've experienced. Sound is better than most but as I already owned a sound system I get the best of both worlds, plus dolby atmos where applicable. Interface is so easy to navigate and smart software is smooth and fast. Voice services easy to set up and use. I use Alexa. Not the cheapest TV out there but I think I've bought the best, also looks nice on the wall, nice and light and straightforward to install and set up. Great for watching movies and sport.

    “Superb picture, impressive smart performance”

    The design and build quality are fine - it's very light but rather thick but not horrendously so. I've wall mounted mine but the stand on the UK model is also really good looking. The picture quality is wonderful in 4k and upscaling from 1080 is equally impressive - not so good at upscaling from lower resolutions. In UHD, the images are stunning - bright and vivid and with plenty of colour without ever being garish. My TV has to face a window but the screen is bright enough that there's almost no reflections to spoil the picture. An oddity with the picture settings is the brightness control. It is set at 50 in every picture mode - but even the slightest change to that setting has massive results on the picture. You can't raise it above 52 without the picture completely washing out or drop it below 48 without getting a dull mess. There's definitely a problem with the curve on that control - it needs to be rewritten to make the changes far more gradual because it is currently totally unusable. Sound is also very good. I use an AVR but when checking out the UK7's onboard speakers, I genuinely had to check a couple of times to make sure I was listening to the TV. The onboard subwoofer really does make all the difference - tweaking the EQ really does add bass, and it's never woolly. The whole thing is fast to use - Amazon Prime and Disney+ load almost instantly and navigating and playing is equally nippy. Picture and sound from both those apps is excellent across the board. The Vidaa interface is also fast and for the most part, easy to use. Minor niggles - the main user apps are presented in a single row which is a pain as you have to scroll so far sideways - a grid is always faster and easier to use. There's no intrusive advertising on Vidaa - for which I am very grateful. The remote control is very well laid out. The buttons look small and crammed together but they are all cleverly angled and that design works well. It isn't perfect though. Being made of aluminium, it is very cold to the touch - annoyingly so at times. The really problem though is that the ends of that metal are cut at sharp angles. They are neatly finished - there's no burr - but they are sharp and the bottom corners dig into the hand. I took a file and grit-paper to mine to round them off - I actually got sores on my hand after a couple of hours of using it. The other major issue is the lack of the most important buttons - Hisense no longer include a button to change the picture mode and incredibly, just a silly single multi-function button to control media - there's no play, pause, rewind and so on. That's such a ridiculous omission on a smart TV where playing streamed video is pretty much the main function of the device. The one major grouse I have is the settings menus - they are somewhat user-unfriendly. Prime example - you can't simply change the picture modes from the remote as you used to be able to do on Hisense TVs - you have to wade into the menus and to the picture settings - you then click to get into the picture mode and up pops a message about some modes and settings using more energy - and you have to click on that message or you can't proceed. Trouble is - there's no way to stop that message appear EVERY time use the menus. So EVERY time you change any picture settings - even just changing from HDR day to HDR night, for example, up comes a message that has to be confirmed. You will have to click that message and others just as annoying THOUSANDS of times during the five years or so that you'll have this TV in your lounge. There's no justifying it - it is intrusive, patronising and irritating. Hisense need to either add a "show once" default or at least let us disable those appalling messages manually. Believe me, when you've had exactly the same message shoved in your face a few hundred times and been forced to click on a button just to get to a basic function on the TV, you will not be reading that message and you will be swearing at the screen. (A hint - if you get a basic Hisense remote from one of their old TVs such as the U7A, it will work with this via I/R and have the missing buttons). Another niggle - changing the input always takes you to the Vidaa homescreen - so if you are watching live TV, for example, you touch that button and you are wrenched away from what you were watching - a simple overlaid menu would have sufficed. And speaking of overlays - there's way too many of them. You change channel and there's another overlay covering half the screen - there's simply no need for it and it gets in the way. Overall though - there's so much to like about this TV that even the niggles aren't enough to put me off. The picture quality is stunning and the whole thing is fast to use and has been totally stable. And there's even a really brilliant little feature that I adore - the power LED on the bezel is a pale, muted straw colour - not some dazzling, bright red fog-lamp that lights up the whole room. Can't tell you how happy that little LED has made me.

    “Great TV with excellent gaming features”

    I bought the TV over a month ago and have been very happy with my purchase. It outperforms my previous Samsung flagship TV and the picture is amazing and the gaming features make it ideal when playing the latest games and supports the latest 2.1 hdmi standards and and the TV looks great too, the price is also excellent value. Highly recommended purchase.
